About us

Green coffee for independent roasters.
No ceremony. No inflated storytelling. No gatekeeping. Just serious green coffee that is transparently sourced, realistically offered, and selected to perform in the roastery.

Our story.
Roast Me officially started this year. The foundation, however, goes back fifteen years to Ezprezzo near Kralingse Zoom (Rotterdam). Tobias was working there as a barista. Maarten regularly stopped by to test espresso, discuss flavour profiles, and challenge extractions. Coffee conversations grew into a long-standing friendship built around curiosity and quality. Over the years, we watched the specialty coffee industry evolve. Micro roasters increased in number, skill, and ambition. Standards improved. Expectations sharpened.

Yet one structural challenge remained.
Access to truly high-quality green coffee in small, realistic volumes was limited. Many of the best lots were tied to scale, long-term contracts, or minimum orders that did not align with independent roasters. Smaller operations often had to compromise on quality, flexibility, or pricing transparency. We understood that problem from the inside. Then, we decided to build the solution.

Why we exist.
Roast Me exists to close the gap between high-quality origin coffee and independent micro roasters. We focus on carefully selected green coffee, volumes that make sense for smaller roasteries, transparent communication about sourcing and pricing, and straightforward professional relationships. We do not sell mystique. We do not hide behind storytelling. We supply green coffee that works.

How we select.
Quality is not a slogan for us. It is process. We cup critically. We buy selectively. We prioritize consistency and repeatability over one-off hype lots. We focus on coffees that perform in real roasting environments, not just on a scoring sheet. We respect origin, producers, and the craft deeply. At the same time, we believe coffee is a profession that demands clarity and discipline.

What's up with that grin.
You may notice the small grin on our packaging and on the homepage. It is there intentionally. Coffee is serious business, but some people take it a little too seriously. The grin in the corner is a raised eyebrow. A quiet reminder that roasting is a craft, not a religion. It reflects how we approach coffee. With respect for the work, but without unnecessary ceremony.

Who we work with.
Roast Me is built for independent micro roasters who care about flavour and precision, want access to better green coffee without artificial barriers, prefer transparency over marketing noise, and value long-term working relationships.

Tobias

Tobias started in specialty coffee fifteen years ago as a barista at Ezprezzo and De IJssalon Meent in Rotterdam. Although his professional career developed outside the coffee industry, coffee has remained a constant, and wherever he travels, a well-run espresso bar is his benchmark for quality.

Maarten

Maarten has worked in food and specialty coffee media since 2001, starting as an editor at restaurant guide IENS. He later led specialty coffee platforms, served as editor-in-chief of KTC magazine, and co-founded the roastery Giraffe. Today, he focuses on green coffee importing and culinary writing.
